| The equipment measures position, speed, acceleration and heart activity, among
other things, and enables them to be viewed. In real time, by remote control and
very accurately. The training can be viewed from any position in 2D or 3D, or
even through the eyes of the players themselves. The coaches get immediate feedback
on the performance of the team and the individual players as well as information
on the players’ physical strain. Information such as heart rate during a
particular exercise or the ability of players to follow tactics can contribute
to better training supervision and to match preparation.
This is a victory in itself, but the PSV coaching staff see much more value
in it than that. The coaches are convinced that this innovation will have a
positive impact on the education of young players, enabling young talent to
be much more precisely coached and facilitating their move through to the senior
team.
What’s more, the club hopes that the Field Lab will act as a magnet for
other innovation projects within the triangle of sport the business world and
knowledge institutes, for instance in respect of improved training aids, artificial
turf, kit and food.
